Studio-lit, coach-guided portraits that capture your gymnast at their best — strong lines, clean shapes, and real personality.

This is a single day with a set number of time slots, and Luke's Sportrait days routinely book to capacity. Once every slot is taken, no additional sessions will be added at Ortona this season. If you have a preferred time, especially a morning slot, book it now rather than later.
Luke O'Geil spent more than ten years coaching competitive gymnastics before moving into photography full time, and now shoots meets from local invitationals through to national and elite competition.
That background changes how a session runs. He knows what a finished position should look like, can call for a specific skill and correct it on the spot, and can keep a nervous eight-year-old laughing while still getting the shot. Athletes get directed, not left to figure out posing on their own — which is why Ortona invited him back.
Three steps, start to finish.
Pick a session type and a time on November 13 that works for your family. You'll get a confirmation with everything you need to prepare.
Arrive warmed up and ready at your scheduled time. Luke directs the whole session — your athlete just has to show up and move.
A private proof gallery lands within five days. Browse everything captured, pick the images you want edited, and they come back finished.
Your proof gallery arrives within five days of the shoot, so there's weeks of runway for prints, framed gifts, and holiday cards. For grandparents who never make it to meets, it's the kind of gift that actually gets hung on a wall.
Sessions run in a dedicated space on the purple rec floor, sectioned off from the day camps running elsewhere in the gym. Here's what your athlete will have to work with.
White and black backdrops with professional studio lighting. Spotlight sessions use the white backdrop; Performance and Dual-Athlete sessions use both.
A beam, brought in for Performance and Dual-Athlete sessions for balance positions and skill shots. A floor bar can also be brought in on request.
A floor mushroom or floor pommel (if available), or parallettes, brought in for Performance and Dual-Athlete sessions to highlight strength and support positions.
Floor-based sessions built around poses, basic tumbling, and signature shapes.
Medals and other personal props are welcome in any session.
Because camps are running in the gym that day, trampoline, double mini, and tumble track aren't available this year — all sessions take place on the purple rec floor in front of the backdrops.
Three formats, all on Friday, November 13, on the purple rec floor. All prices include GST.
The session most families choose. Twice the shooting time means real variety — around twenty distinct poses and skills across both a white and a black backdrop, plus apparatus work: beam (or floor bar) for WAG athletes, floor mushroom, floor pommel, or parallettes for MAG. More range on the day means more genuinely different images to choose from at the end.
Bring two leotards or singlets. Grips, medals, and other props welcome.
Book Performance — $195A focused, coach-guided portrait session on a white backdrop.
In a 10-minute active shoot, your athlete works through ~10 distinct poses and skills — standing poses, clean shapes, handstands, and signature elements — with clear direction to bring out strong lines and confident expression.
One leotard or singlet. White backdrop, no equipment. Medals and other props welcome.
Best for athletes who want a precise, polished result — one strong look, a focused selection of their best skills, and images that are ready to use.
Built for siblings, training partners, or teammates who want to shoot together — even if they're in different disciplines. Each athlete gets their own dedicated shooting time, their own direction, and their own gallery, then the session closes with a short combined shoot for one image of the two of them. That works out to about $173 per athlete, less than a single Performance session.
Bring two leotards or singlets each. Grips, medals, and other props welcome. Both athletes need to be free for the full 40 minutes.
Book Dual-Athlete — $345Whichever format you pick.
A quick way to narrow it down.
You want range — both backdrops, apparatus shots, five edits, and the widest spread of images to pick from.
You want one polished look without the longer session. Clean, quick, and three finished images.
You have two athletes who want their own galleries plus one image together.
Direction is specific and constant — which arm, how high, hold it there. Athletes never stand around wondering what to do with their hands.
A coach's eye catches the bent knee or the dropped shoulder before the shutter goes, not after. Shapes come out clean.
Every edited image gets a seamless finish — clean backdrop, continuous floor, no visible seams or distractions behind your athlete.
Sessions are structured so the time gets used well. Athletes know what's coming next and tend to enjoy the whole thing.
